Blues music artists gather for Dartmouth weekend benefit

The blues and roots music community of Nova Scotia is coming in a great way to back one of their important players at Monte’s Roadhouse, this weekend, in Dartmouth. The Music for Mary, Phisch & Family is a welfare show for the family of Greg Phisch Fancy, the bassist whose wife Mary was diagnosed with cancer previous year.

Fancy, whose CV has rhythm duties with Joe Murphy and Dutch Mason, would be backed by friends such 7 time Maple Blues Award recipient Jack de Keyzer and double Juno Award winner, performing Friday evening with special guest Dan Doiron.

The show on Saturday is an all-star matinee starting from 3 pm and going on till 7 pm, with a special appearance by J.W. Jones, casting off in en route to his night show at Bearly’s, Lex Dunn & friends, the Bald Brothers, the Kevin Fletcher Band, the Mike Oliver Band, veteran Nova Scotia rocker Wayne Nicholson and the Terry Edmonds Band.

The lineup for Sunday, from 3 pm to 10 pm includes a special reunion of the Floorboards, Little Barry Cooke & the Blue Devils, Shirley Jackson and Her Good Rockin’ Daddys, Annette Drapeau, Phil Potvin, Andrew Gillis, John CampbelljohnDonny Donahue & All Night Station, Shrimp Daddy & the Sharp Shooters and Buck Tingley. Also, there are rumors that a certain Perth-Andover singer/guitarist keeping in an appearance if his flight from Amsterdam gets in on the right time.
Through the weekend, there will also be a silent weekend.
